What we do
Based on our fundamental philosophy and mission, we focus on four major activities.
These activities aim to empower welfare workers, meet changing social needs, and promote richer social welfare practices.
Support for the Promotion of Social Welfare Development
Grants for Pioneering Projects
We provide grants (up to 300,000 yen per project) to organizations addressing new social welfare needs.
Paine Scholarship Program
This scholarship is named after missionary Mildred Anne Paine, founder of Aikei Gakuen (the predecessor of this Foundation). We provide an amount equivalent to annual tuition fees (up to 1 million yen per recipient) to a select number of students, including international students, studying social welfare at graduate schools in Japan.
Support for International and Pioneering Projects Contributing to Social Welfare
We support the development of social welfare workers from an international perspective, as well as projects and activities working toward meeting current international social welfare standards.
"Aikei Essay Award"
We host the "Aikei Essay Award" to deepen public understanding of social welfare. Through this initiative, we invite welfare stakeholders to share their experiences and perspectives, contributing to the further development of the welfare system.
Domestic and Overseas Training Support Program
Since its inception, this program has been a core undertaking of the Foundation. We aim to foster the next generation of welfare workers and contribute to the development of social welfare.
Seminars and Workshops
Social welfare professionals must constantly acquire new knowledge and skills. We organize seminars and workshops to address diverse issues and themes of our time.
